A festival, a farm and some foraged flowers….a real Derbyshire wedding or were we in Glastonbury!?
I first met Becky and Jim in a rather large shed on their farm, Knowletop in Buxworth, Derbyshire, surrounded by very lovely but very smelly sheep!
I was told to use my imagination (luckily as a florist I have this in droves) because this was to be their wedding venue! So, in less than 6 months, I returned with armfuls of flowers to put the finishing touches to what I can only describe as a very beautiful sheep shed!
Well done Becky and Jim. What an amazing job they did of turning the corrugated cube into a fabulous derbyshire wedding venue, complete with tables, BREWERY and a dance floor! The attention to detail was incredible!
To compliment the charm of this delightful rustic wedding, the bride chose a beautiful, a-symmetrical bouquet that included British roses, pink peonies, daisies, lavender and foraged raspberry foliage. I used ‘Patience’ by David Austin Roses not only because of it’s delicate, deep creamy colour but also it’s incredible scent. It has to be up there with one of my favourite wedding flowers.
The bridesmaids carried posies of peach avalanche roses, pink peonies, daisies and pale peach carnations to compliment the bride.
How amazing are these buttonholes? To go with the theme, I created these fantastic shotgun cartridge designs complete with lavender and daisies. They match the colours of Jim’s tie and waistcoat perfectly!
For the interior I used jam jars that included locally grown and foraged flowers topped up with herbs, dill, lavender, dahlia and september.
Here are some more pictures of their Glastonbury themed and very well earned wedding day! Complete with camping field, VW Beetle, some shotguns and a huge bride and groom made out of hay…..obviously! It’s amazing how with a little help from some friends, hard work and imagination, an entire wedding can be both handmade and homemade, in every sense of the word.
Many thanks for the wonderful wedding photography http://loisphotography.zenfolio.com
Congratulations Becky and Jim!
